Purpura is a clinical manifestation of a purpuric, dark purple rash on the skin that does not recede when pressed and may take on a tan colour in later stages. It is usually 1-5mm in size and is more common on the extremities.
It can usually be judged by the location of the lesion. Because purpura is mostly associated with vascular system lesions and clotting disorders, patients often have other bleeding manifestations, such as nosebleeds and bleeding gums.
