There are many misconceptions about the prevention and treatment of osteoarthrosis, and many advantages of non-surgical treatment

As the human body ages, so do the bones and joints, which is a natural and irresistible law. However, with proper maintenance, bone joints can delay aging and prevent breakdowns. Taking care of the bone joints of the elderly is like taking care of a car engine, which can extend the life of the car. In daily life and in the process of medical treatment, people tend to enter some misconceptions in their minds, which affect the health and rehabilitation of bone and joint. Misconception 1: Osteoarthritis does not occur in young people. Many young people think that osteoarthritis is very far away from them and is a disease of the elderly. In fact, osteoarthritis and wear and tear of joint cartilage occur clinically in young people. Most of them occur after sports and trauma. Therefore, young people should be aware of bone and joint protection and pay attention to bone health. Myth 2: Arthritis should be treated when you are older. The chances of osteoarthritis in middle-aged and older women are higher than in men, which may be related to osteoporosis and cartilage degeneration in mature women with age and estrogen loss, patellar chondromalacia is a more common osteoarthrosis in female patients, mostly characterized by squatting pain and stair pain, so young women should prevent the occurrence and development of osteoarthrosis as early as possible. Myth 3: Older people have back and leg pain, it’s not a major disease, it’s just a painkiller, it can be treated or not. In fact, if osteoarthritis continues to develop, it can lead to disability. Simply taking painkillers to treat the condition actually continues to develop, and the joint cartilage is still wearing out and being lost. Myth 4: Calcium supplements can treat osteoarthritis. Although calcium deficiency is easily one of the causes of osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis is likely to occur after osteoporosis, the so-called calcium deficiency is an obstacle to the deposition of calcium into the bone, i.e., abnormal bone metabolism, and calcium in the blood cannot be deposited into the bone properly. The most important cause of osteoarthritis is the wear and tear and degeneration of joint cartilage. The damage to cartilage is not related to calcium deficiency, so calcium supplementation alone cannot treat osteoarthritis. Myth 5: Conservative treatment of osteoarthritis will not have any effect and surgery will eventually be required to solve the problem. Although age-related osteoarthritis is one of the more difficult osteoarthritis diseases to treat, the choice of osteoarthritis surgery needs to be made carefully, as there are strict indications for eventual joint replacement. Non-surgical therapies are clinically proven to have significant efficacy, which is consistent with the desire of most seniors not to opt for replacement surgery. The Department of non-surgical treatment of bone and joint disease is a traditional specialty of Luoyang Orthopaedic Hospital in Henan Province, which inherits the experience of Guo’s orthopaedic treatment in Pingle and continues to innovate and develop, inheriting but not mudding the ancient and carrying forward but not leaving the clan. Based on the service policy of “cure the disease, serve well and spend less money”, the department highlights the characteristics of Chinese medicine. We integrate the concept of health management and the idea of “treating the sick” into the management of bone health. The individualized treatment method provides patients with a set of treatment, rehabilitation, prevention and daily conditioning programs tailored to their own needs. The treatment of osteoarthrosis by Yiyuan traction and activation techniques, the treatment of osteoarthrosis by Chinese medicine, the treatment of osteoarthrosis by bone guidance exercises, and the treatment of osteoarthrosis by acupuncture and moxibustion, with rich treatment methods and the scientific method of combining Chinese and Western medicine, have brought the gospel to most patients with osteoarthrosis. Older people maintain bone joints both to often practice activities, but not too much, too heavy to practice. Once the symptoms appear, such as redness, swelling, pain, limited movement, limb weakness, etc., it is the body sends you an early warning signal, you may need to go to the hospital to do some bone health checkups and maintenance.
