Lipomas, nodules and cysts are somewhat different, with different causes, different symptoms, different treatment measures and prognosis. 1. Different etiology Lipoma is due to abnormal adipose tissue, hyperplasia and differentiation, the specific etiology is unknown. Nodules may be caused by inflammatory factors, cysts, benign tumors, malignant tumors and other causes. There are many types of cysts such as sebaceous cysts, cervical cysts, and visceral cysts. Sebaceous cysts are retention cysts caused by obstruction of excretion of sebaceous glands; cervical cysts are mostly due to infections and other factors, and visceral cysts can be caused by inflammation, heredity and other factors. 2. Symptoms are different: most of the lipomas do not have independent uncomfortable symptoms; benign nodules usually have no symptoms; if it is malignant nodules, it may cause local pain and dysfunction; cysts do not have secondary infections and are usually asymptomatic. 3. Different treatment measures: lipoma, cysts and benign tumors basically need surgical resection to be cured. However, for malignant nodules, besides surgical resection, other anti-tumor measures should be taken accordingly. 4. Prognosis: Lipomas, benign nodules and cysts can be cured after surgical resection; however, malignant nodules may have poorer prognosis or even life-threatening after active treatment.
