Does the new coronavirus cause diarrhea?

A small but uncommon proportion of people with novel coronavirus infection will have diarrhea. Most viral infections are characterized by fever, general malaise, and dry cough. A small number of patients will have respiratory symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and diarrhea symptoms. In patients with severe symptoms, respiratory distress can occur in about 1 week. In critical cases, the disease progresses rapidly and acute respiratory distress syndrome, septic shock, uncorrectable metabolic acidosis and bleeding and clotting dysfunction can occur within a short period of time, which can endanger patients’ lives.
