Do you have to lie down for three months with a fractured neck of femur?

Fractures of the femoral neck must be treated with surgical rest for three months on a flat surface. Femoral neck fracture is fixed internally with three hollow screws, and bed rest must be taken during the initial period after restoring the stability of the fracture. Due to the special location of the femoral neck fracture, the blood supply to the femoral head is very low, and the blood supply into the femoral head may be destroyed when the femoral neck fracture is fractured. Therefore, after resting the fracture and stabilizing it, you must take sufficient rest. If you get out of bed early, the fracture break end will generate shear stress, which will affect the blood supply to the fracture, thus the fracture may not heal or femoral head necrosis may occur. After three months, if it is clear that there is bone scab formation at the fracture end, you can get out of bed with double crutches and gradually put weight on the ground, but at this time, you cannot put full weight on the ground. The time for full weight bearing and walking without crutches is about six months after surgery.
