What are the advantages of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery?

Acute appendicitis is the most common surgical emergency in pediatric patients, and is rare in infants and children under 3 years of age. The younger the age, the higher the rate of perforation, and the less typical the symptoms and signs, the easier it is to misdiagnose. Traditional appendectomy has a long history of treating pediatric acute and chronic appendicitis, but the clinical use of minimally invasive laparoscopic appendectomy has created another new treatment method for pediatric acute and chronic appendicitis. Over the years, our hospital has performed many cases of minimally invasive appendicitis surgery and received good results. The advantages of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery are as follows: 1) small trauma, quick recovery and short hospital stay; 2) laparoscopic examination of the whole abdominal cavity can be performed, and other diseases confused with it can be detected or excluded in time, which has both diagnostic and therapeutic significance; 3) the operation time is significantly shorter than that of conventional open surgery; 4) no surgical incision scar is left in the abdomen; 5) the abdominal cavity is thoroughly flushed during the operation, and postoperative complications such as abdominal abscesses and pelvic abscesses can be avoided. Since the abdominal cavity is not opened, the chance of postoperative complications of intestinal adhesions and intestinal obstruction is very low; 7. Since the incision is very small, there is no complication of incisional infection; 8. The appendiceal vessels are usually cut with ultrasonic knife, and the ligature wire will not be dislodged after surgery, resulting in abdominal hemorrhage.
