Esophageal cancer is highly prevalent in China, and Fujian Province is a high prevalence province. Surgical resection is the first choice of treatment for esophageal cancer. However, conventional open surgery is very traumatic and has many complications, and it is even more risky for elderly and frail patients. Minimally invasive radical surgery for esophageal cancer has great advantages over conventional surgery due to less trauma, fewer complications, faster recovery and beautiful incision. Our medical team has accumulated experience in more than 350 minimally invasive esophageal cancer surgeries. Currently, minimally invasive surgeries are performed on more than 95% of esophageal cancer patients who meet the indications for surgery, which is of great benefit to patients. We are already a step ahead in minimally invasive surgery for esophageal cancer, and it is foreseeable that minimally invasive surgery will eventually replace conventional open surgery as the standard of care for the radical treatment of esophageal cancer.
