Typical symptoms of esophageal cancer are: progressive dysphagia, i.e. inability to swallow food, which is aggravated for a period of time, such as difficulty in swallowing dry rice, developing to only soft food or even liquid food. Other symptoms of esophageal cancer are: 1. Choking sensation under the throat. 2. Discomfort or pain at the back of sternum and under the raphe, burning, pins and needles or pulling discomfort when swallowing food. 3. Sense of food retention and foreign body sensation. Symptoms of esophageal cancer in late stage include: chest pain, hoarseness, choking, phrenic nerve paralysis, vomiting blood and so on.
