Perforation of the eardrum refers to perforation of the tympanic membrane, which is usually not caused by secretory otitis media. Perforation of the eardrum is mainly considered to be related to trauma, suppurative otitis media and tumor. Secretory otitis media can lead to symptoms such as hearing loss, tinnitus, ear pain, and ear stuffiness, and if not intervened in a timely manner, may be complicated by diseases such as tympanosclerosis, adhesive otitis media, and cholesterol granuloma. However, usually, it does not directly trigger tympanic membrane perforation. Symptoms of tympanic membrane perforation are mainly considered to be related to other factors such as injury from external objects, dramatic changes in pressure in the ear, suppurative otitis media, and middle ear cancer. It is recommended that the patient should consult a doctor as soon as possible to confirm the cause of the disease and follow the doctor’s instruction to take reasonable treatment.
