How long does it take to detect HIV at high risk

AIDS can be transmitted through sexual intercourse. After having unprotected sex, the HIV antibody test is usually used for about 3 weeks to detect AIDS. If a 4th generation test is used, which combines HIV antibodies with P24 antigen, AIDS can be detected in about two weeks. If the HIV nucleic acid test, or RNA quantification, is used after the high risk, it is likely to be detected in about a week. For different HIV testing methods, the time to detect the disease varies slightly. If you want to make sure you are not infected, the test should be delayed a little. Generally, a negative test result after 6 weeks or later using the HIV antibody combined with the P24 antigen test will rule out infection. If the HIV antibody test is used alone, it is recommended that the test be performed after 12 weeks.
