Neonatal dacryocystitis is caused by congenital disorders of the lacrimal duct development. Commonly, the lower end of the nasolacrimal duct is closed by a congenital remnant membrane; or the lumen is obstructed by epithelial debris; rarely, the nasolacrimal duct is narrowed by a bony lumen due to a nasal malformation. The lacrimal sac is unable to remove the lacrimal fluid and secretions from the lacrimal sac, allowing microorganisms to accumulate and multiply in the blind channel, resulting in lacrimal sac inflammation. The clinical manifestations are: red eyes, discharge, tearing and squeezing the lacrimal sac area, purulent discharge from the lower tear dots. Treatment: 1, antimicrobial drops for eye dots. 2, massage the lacrimal sac area, the standard massage: index finger pressed above the lacrimal sac area pressed, by increasing the pressure of the lacrimal sac so that the force downward conduction; downward squeeze the tear duct, and then cause the rupture of the membrane. This formula is not necessarily effective. 3, when the child is about 4 months old, perform lacrimal duct exploration. This formula is effective for simple obstruction. Generally 1~2 times can be done. 4.Complex obstruction needs to be treated by other surgery when the child grows up.
