Geriatric hypertension

  The number of elderly people in China is large, and the prevalence of hypertension in people over 60 years old is 49%, that is, about one in every two people over 60 years old suffers from hypertension, so there are a large number of elderly hypertensive patients. Hypertension in the elderly often coexists with a variety of diseases and has many complications: it is often complicated by coronary heart disease, heart failure, cerebrovascular disease, renal insufficiency, diabetes, etc. This poses a greater risk to the health of the elderly and makes treatment more complicated. The following is an introduction to hypertension in the elderly from several aspects.  Diagnostic criteria for hypertension in the elderly: age greater than 60 years, blood pressure persistently or more than 3 times non-same day sitting systolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 90 mmHg is defined as hypertension in the elderly. If the systolic blood pressure was greater than or equal to 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure was greater than or equal to 90 mmHg defined as simple systolic hypertension (ISH) in the elderly.
