The treatment strategies for AVMs as far as they are concerned are surgical resection, gamma knife and interventional embolization therapy, or a combination of several approaches. I will briefly introduce several treatment methods. Surgical resection is the most thorough treatment for AVM, which can not only eliminate bleeding from the lesion, stop blood theft from malformed vessels, improve cerebral blood supply but also control seizures. The AVM should be completely removed from the blood supply artery and drainage vein, and the bleeding should be completely stopped after total excision of the lesion. Although the surgical results are satisfactory, not all AVMs are suitable for surgical treatment.
