What cases of leg fractures are treated surgically

There are many indications for surgery after a fracture in the leg, the common ones are as follows: 1. An open fracture or injury to the nerves or blood vessels around the fracture, or injury to the tendons. 2. A fracture that is so obviously misaligned that it cannot be successfully repositioned even by manipulation or is not well fixed after successful repositioning. 3. A fracture that involves the joint surface, resulting in unevenness of the joint surface and displacement of more than 2 mm. If the joint surface is uneven or displaced by more than 2mm, surgery is required to restore the joint surface. 4. If the fracture is old and healing abnormally or forming bone discontinuity. 5. If the fracture is severe with serious vascular and nerve damage and terminal limb necrosis, amputation is considered.
