Does breast cancer run in families?

Breast cancer has a familial concentration of features called familial history. Breast cancer that occurs in a family with two or more cases of one type of people with the same blood relationship is called familial breast cancer. If familial breast cancer has a clear inheritance of breast cancer, it is called hereditary breast cancer. Hereditary breast cancer accounts for 5%-10% of the overall breast cancer incidence, and familial hereditary breast cancer is characterized by relatively early onset, young age, and multiple lesions. For familial hereditary breast cancer, it is currently possible to detect BRCA gene mutation, and through the detection of gene mutation, it is possible to predict the risk of breast cancer over a lifetime.
