Functional exercise guidance for post-operative radiotherapy patients with breast cancer

Correct assessment: to fully understand the patient’s post-surgical exercise process and to understand the patient’s current status of functional exercise of the affected limb. 1, some post-surgical patients, or due to the lack of post-operative functional exercise execution, did not achieve the desired goal, you can give detailed instructions according to the situation against the corresponding steps of post-surgical exercise. The specific methods are as follows: 1) Exercise time: the earlier the better. From the first day after surgery, do it daily, 3-5 times a day, 5-10 minutes each time to feel not tired. 2) Do finger extension, fist clenching and wrist flexion on the first 1-2 days. Observe the limbs for amidships, pain, numbness, etc. 3) On day 3-4, in addition to the above exercises, do elbow bending exercises. If the affected limb is weak, use the palm of the opposite hand to hold the affected wrist and lift the forearm, repeatedly. 4) On day 5-7, start from the elbow and gradually develop to the shoulder, i.e. use the affected hand to touch the opposite shoulder and the ipsilateral auricle, encourage the patient to brush teeth, comb hair, wash face, etc. 5) On day 8, the patient should do shoulder activities, such as shrugging. 6) On day 9-12, you can exercise to raise the upper limb of the affected side. At first, hold the affected elbow with the palm of the opposite hand and slowly raise it until the shoulder is level. Then do the finger climbing exercise. That is: stand upright in front of the wall with the legs slightly apart, bend the elbow of the affected limb, hold the palm of the hand at the same height as the shoulder, stick to the wall, bend the fingers and gradually climb up along the wall until the arm is completely straight, then move the arm down to the original position. 7) After the 12th day, the full range of joint motion of the affected upper extremity can be performed. Practice placing the palm of the affected hand behind the occiput and start in a low head position. Slowly raise the head and gradually raise the head and chest position. Then contact the following movements: a. Paddle movement: take a rope, one end is tied to the door handle or other objects, the other end is held in the affected hand, cotton team objects a circle way to turn to do circular motion, there are small to large, slow to fast. Pulley exercise: in the higher than the head of the horizontal rod with a rope, hands hold one end, first with the healthy side of the hand will pull the rope down, so that the affected side of the elbow arm raised until it reaches a slight discomfort, and then raise the healthy side of the arm, so that the affected side of the arm naturally down. So repeatedly, to do pulley exercise. 2, exercise precautions: adhere to exercise, be planned, purposeful, gradual, not too hasty; if the postoperative period is not completely according to the norms to exercise, you can correspond to the above steps, press step by step to keep up. When exercising, pay attention to prevent strains and tears of irradiated skin, and pay attention to adjust the strength and progress according to the situation. 3, other precautions: do not perform intravenous infusion and puncture in the affected arm; avoid moving and lifting too heavy objects on the affected limb; should not measure blood pressure on the affected side to avoid skin damage and prevent swelling.
