Pneumonia in novel coronavirus infection is characterized by fever, malaise, and dry cough. A small number of patients have symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose and diarrhea. However, some cases present with low to moderate fever or no fever, and severe cases tend to present with respiratory distress after 1 week. If a patient has a history of contact with confirmed or suspected patients, or has visited or lived in an infected area 14 days before the onset of the disease, it is recommended that he or she go to the nearest designated hospital immediately if the body temperature exceeds 37.3°C and give a truthful account of the contact history with the receiving physician. If the patient has no history of exposure and a sudden rise in body temperature occurs but there are no other accompanying symptoms, he or she should be isolated and observed on his or her own.
