Can I get a filling when I have my period?

It is possible for women to have fillings during their menstrual period, but the patient’s resistance and general state should be taken into account. Women’s body resistance is lower during menstruation and they are more sensitive to pain. A simple filling operation can cause mild sensitivity and discomfort, which can be relieved in a few days. However, if the tooth is deeply decayed and requires root canal treatment, the pain may be aggravated when the pulp has to be opened and operations such as flushing and nerve killing are performed. During menstruation, the blood clotting ability is also not as good as usual, and some patients may have all kinds of discomfort and poor general condition during menstruation itself. Although fillings do not cause a lot of bleeding, women who are concerned may also consider postponing treatment. If a woman chooses to have a filling during her menstrual period, she should be careful not to eat spicy and irritating foods and rinse her mouth more often after eating to avoid oral discomfort caused by food residues.
