How do I know if I am obese?

Obesity is because energy intake exceeds the body’s consumption for a long time, it is a nutritional disorder disease with excessive accumulation of body fat and weight exceeding a certain range, it can increase the occurrence of diabetes, hypertension, lipid abnormalities, ischemic cardiomyopathy, cerebrovascular disease, cholelithiasis and certain cancers, osteoarthrosis, polycystic ovary syndrome. Obesity disease refers to simple obesity, that is, except for endocrine – metabolic disease as the cause. Obesity can be seen at any age, 40 to 50 years old, more women than men. Female fat distribution is mainly in the abdomen and buttocks. Measure obesity can be calculated according to the formula, that is, the body mass index (BMI) is equal to the weight (kg) divided by the height (m) square of the value obtained [BMI = weight/height 2 = kg/m 2], BMI = 18.5 ~ 22.9, for normal weight; BMI = 23.0, overweight; BMI ≥ 23.0 ~ 24.9, mild obesity; BMI = 25.0 ~ 29.9. moderate obesity; BMI ≥30.0, severe obesity. Human weight consists of many parts, including bone, water, muscle, fat, etc. Body mass index only detects the relationship between weight and height, and does not specifically measure body fat content. For example, an athlete and a person who never exercises have the same body mass index, but their fat content is different, and the fat content of an athlete is much less than that of a person who never exercises. People are obese because they have too much fat in their bodies. The body composition test is to measure the amount of fat in the body, so this test is more accurate and relevant for obese people to measure. If you suspect that you are obese, you can go to a large hospital specialized institution to test body composition to confirm whether the body fat content is too high, but the cost is higher. It should be reminded that women are sometimes prone to occult obesity. Some women do not look fat and their body mass index is not high, but once the body composition is measured, it is found that the body fat content is high, and this kind of hidden obesity is more difficult to detect. In addition, specifically measuring the ratio of waist circumference to height can also be used as a criterion for determining abdominal obesity. Usually the ratio of height and waist circumference should not exceed 0.46, which means that the waist circumference should be less than half of the height. The advantage of this index is not to consider the age factor and height factor. Our country stipulates that waist circumference below 90 cm for adult men and below 80 cm for adult women is normal.
