What is a multisegmental intramedullary tumor?

Multisegmental intramedullary tumors are a special type of intradural tumor, and an intramedullary tumor with a length greater than two vertebral segments is considered a multisegmental intramedullary tumor [1]. In recent years, more and more research has been conducted in this field, and most scholars emphasize early surgery and total excision of the tumor lesion as much as possible [1-4]. Previous studies on the comparative analysis of multisegmental benign intramedullary tumors, intramedullary astrocytomas, intramedullary congenital tumors, and benign ventricular meningiomas have been found accordingly. Multi-segmental intramedullary tumors are predominantly benign gliomas (astrocytomas grade I-II) and congenital tumors in immature patients and ventricular meningiomas in adult patients; the recent prognosis of patients in the immature group is relatively good.
