Breast fibroids are common benign tumors of the breast, generally considered to be closely related to the active action of estrogen and occurring during the period of active sexual function (18 to 25 years of age).
Diagnosis of breast fibroids
1.Commonly found in young women aged 20 to 25, mostly solitary, slow growing, may have no conscious symptoms, often unintentionally found spherical lumps in the breast.
2.Slow growth, spherical or ovoid lump, smooth surface, tough texture, clear boundary, and sliding sensation when touched.
Breast fibroids treatment measures
Although breast fibroadenoma is benign, it may become malignant, so it should be removed surgically once detected. Surgery can be performed under local anesthesia. After revealing the tumor, the whole mass is removed together with its envelope. The excised mass must be routinely examined to rule out the possibility of malignant lesions.
Clinical manifestations of breast fibroids
The disease is usually found in the outer quadrant of the breast, approximately 75% are solitary and a few are multiple (simultaneous or not). Apart from the presence of a lump, the patient usually has no obvious primary symptoms. The lump increases slowly; on examination, it is firm, well-defined, smooth and easily pushed. The menstrual cycle has no effect on the size of the lump.
Clinical classification of breast fibroids
Breast fibroids can be clinically classified into three types
(1) Common fibroadenoma, which is the most common type, with small, slow-growing tumors, usually less than 3CM.
(2) Youthful fibroadenoma, which mostly occurs during menarche and is less common clinically, is characterized by faster growth and larger tumors, and can occupy the whole breast in about 1 year, with a maximum lump diameter of 1-13 CM.
(3) Giant fibroadenoma: It is common in middle-aged women, and can be seen in women before and after pregnancy, lactation and menopause.
The formation of this disease is related to the vigorous ovarian function and the sensitivity of the organism and local breast tissue to excessive estrogen stimulation. Excessive estrogen levels cause a local reaction of the breast tissue to it, which leads to the disease. The lumps are small at the beginning, slow growing, usually 1-3CM in size, usually without any obvious symptoms, mostly without pain or tenderness, occasionally with slight tenderness, often found unintentionally, mostly touched when bathing, single or multiple, round or oval in shape, also nodular, lobulated, smooth surface, firm and tough, with clear borders. The surface is smooth, solid and tough, with clear boundary, no adhesion with surrounding tissues, no sliding sensation when touched, no change of surface skin, no enlargement of axillary lymph nodes.
Ancillary examinations for breast fibroadenoma.
Fibroadenoma of the breast is generally easy to diagnose, with mammography and palladium examination commonly used, and final diagnosis relying on pathology.
Evaluation of the efficacy of mammary fibroids.
Cure: tumor removal and incision healing.
Mammary fibroadenoma treatment measures.
Western medicine: surgery is the only method
Although breast fibroadenoma is benign, it has the potential to become malignant and should be surgically removed once detected. Surgery can be performed under local anesthesia. After revealing the tumor, the whole mass is removed together with its envelope. The excised mass must be routinely examined pathologically to exclude the possibility of malignant lesions.
Efficacy evaluation.
Cured, the tumor is removed and the incision is healed; however, other areas can reappear.
TCM: Combination of disease and evidence-based treatment
Breast fibroids belong to the category of “breast fetish” in Chinese medicine. The development of fibroids is mostly caused by the imbalance of the flushing and the stagnation of liver qi, the failure of spleen movement and the coagulation of phlegm and stasis. By combining the principles of diagnosis and evidence in Chinese medicine, the treatment is effective and less likely to recur, but the course of treatment is long.
Therapeutic standard
The treatment of this disease is generally divided into three months as a course of treatment, and its efficacy is determined into the following four levels.
Cured: Breast pain and lumps disappear completely.
Effective: Before menstruation, after anger and exertion, the degree of breast pain is significantly reduced compared with that before treatment, the volume of the lump is reduced by more than half, and there is slight pressure pain.
Effective: Before menstruation, after anger and exertion, the breast pain is reduced, the lump is softer in texture, and the volume of the lump is reduced by less than half.
Ineffective: After treatment, the symptoms and signs fail to improve, or even worsen.
Other measures
Strengthen exercise, avoid irritation or depression, eliminate tension, excitement and other psychological states, maintain a relaxed and open mood and emotional stability. The diet should be nutritious and light, avoid thick and fatty food, especially avoid smoking and alcohol. Regularity of life and living, and restraint in sexual intercourse, so as not to further deplete the positive energy.
