Recovery experience of a patient after recurrent patellar dislocation

Postoperative rehabilitation is a very important part of treatment for patients with joint sports injuries, and is the last one-third part of the so-called three-third part. Pre-operative diagnosis and treatment planning is one third, intra-operative surgery is one third, and post-operative rehabilitation is one third. The post-operative rehabilitation is about the balance between early joint movement and protective braking. For the surgeon, it is best to follow the whole process, guide and encourage the patient, i.e., to pay attention to protect the results of our surgery, such as the repaired meniscus, rotator cuff and other tissues, and the reconstructed ligaments, etc.; at the same time, to let the patient recover the joint movement and muscle strength as soon as possible. This process can be assisted by a rehabilitator, but the surgeon must be personally involved in the process; for the patient, he or she must listen to the surgeon’s words, be persistent and seize the golden period of rehabilitation from 6 weeks to 3 months after surgery. The following is a thank-you note from a young patient who started with inadequate rehabilitation exercises and was able to regain good function of the knee joint after timely intervention of the surgeon, combined with functional exercises. Such examples are often encountered in our work. The process is sometimes painful, but the future is bright. We wish every patient with joint sports injury a good recovery!
