Brazil uses acupuncture to cure snoring

Severe snoring not only affects your sleep and that of your partner, it is often accompanied by apnea, which may lead to sudden death. Today’s treatment is to wear a positive pressure respirator to improve breathing, which is the most effective way to achieve immediate results. However, the effect is limited due to the poor cooperation of the patient. Snoring is mainly caused by nasal disease and obesity, which leads to a temporary suspension of sleep breathing, so it is important to improve the health of the nose and control weight properly. According to a joint study conducted by the Sleep Specialty, Neurology, Acupuncture and Physiology Departments of the Federal University of São Paulo, Brazil, a team of 36 patients with obstructive sleep apnea underwent a 10-week acupuncture treatment and found that after the treatment, both the patients’ symptoms and multifunctional sleep test data showed significant improvement. Acupuncture is another alternative adjunctive therapy for patients with sleep apnea. In the meridian theory of Chinese medicine, there is a meridian called the “Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian”, which runs around the bottom and sides of the nose. Stimulating specific points on this meridian can regulate the circulation of qi and blood in the nose, which can lead to relief of nasal symptoms. Patients with this problem may want to massage the Yingxiang and Hegu points on this meridian more often. In addition, taking herbal remedies that replenish qi can effectively strengthen muscle tone and restore a certain degree of elasticity to the flabby and sagging pharyngeal muscles, thus reducing the phenomenon of obstructing the respiratory tract due to muscle laxity. In addition, Chinese herbs that reduce swelling and dispel blood stasis can remove the growths produced by long-term chronic inflammation in the deeper parts of the body. After about three months of such treatment, more than 60% of the patients can obtain quite good results.
