Femoral neck fracture is a fracture between the femoral head down to the base of the femoral neck, divided into femoral neck fracture in young people and femoral neck fracture in the elderly, the vast majority of patients with fracture line in the joint, the incidence of women is slightly higher than men, the elderly have different levels of osteoporosis, so femoral neck fracture mostly occurs in the elderly. With the aging of the society’s population, the incidence of femoral neck fractures is also increasing. In female patients, the incidence of osteoporosis occurs earlier than in men due to reduced activity and physiological metabolism, so the age of onset is slightly younger in women than in men. Fractures of the femoral neck in younger patients are mainly due to high-energy trauma, such as car accidents and fall from height injuries, and the fractures are often combined with multiple fractures at other sites, with poorer prognostic outcomes for the fractures. Fractures of the neck of femur in the elderly can be caused by minor external forces due to lesser injuries. After the fracture of the neck of femur in the elderly, the pain and impaired movement of the affected hip mainly occurs, and some of the fractures with significant displacement may show shortened deformity or rotational deformity of the lower limb.
