Breast cancer is currently known to have a number of high-grade factors, but most risk factors are uncontrolled. There is no way to find a vaccine or drug that targets the prevention of breast cancer to ensure that you do not develop the disease. However, secondary prevention (i.e. controlling some risk factors for you, cancer screening, etc.) strives for early detection and appropriate early treatment during the course of the disease, which can help improve your chances of survival and cure. Secondary prevention includes routine breast exams starting at age 20 and mammograms or ultrasounds or even MRIs starting at age 35 to age 40. This depends on whether you have risk factors for breast cancer.
