Poor blood pressure control, the kidneys are “hurt”!

China’s hypertension patients are close to 300 million, and the blood pressure awareness rate and control situation are not optimistic. A considerable number of patients, because there are no clear symptoms, neglect diagnosis and treatment. Patients with long-term hypertension can bring damage to many important organs throughout the body, such as the heart, kidneys, brain, eyes and large blood vessels throughout the body, and previously we talked about heart damage caused by hypertension. Today we will talk to you about the kidney damage caused by high blood pressure. What is the relationship between hypertension and kidney damage? The main component of the kidney is the glomerulus, and the glomerulus is actually many capillary balls, which filter out the metabolites in the blood through a “filter membrane” and discharge them through urine. Changes in blood pressure are directly reflected in the glomeruli. As blood pressure rises, the consequence is a hyperperfusion, hyperpressure, and hyperfiltration state in the glomerulus. This allows substances in the blood that should not be filtered out, such as protein, to be filtered out and proteinuria to occur. Patients may experience increased frothy urination and hypoproteinemia, which is dangerous to their health. If hypertension persists, the structure of the “filtration membrane” itself will be changed, leading to glomerulosclerosis and damage to the renal tubules and interstitium, resulting in a decline in kidney function and deterioration, with the worst outcome being the development of uremia. So, how to detect kidney damage early in hypertensive patients? For hypertensive patients, first of all, we must control blood pressure, should be under the guidance of doctors to take blood pressure drugs, the principle of antihypertensive treatment is to start with a small dose, preferably long-acting agents, combined with individualized treatment, the process of taking drugs should be regular follow-up, do not “only take drugs without measuring blood pressure”, “not uncomfortable not The patient should not take the medication without blood pressure measurement, or take the medication according to the condition. Patients must have regular urine routine, urine microalbumin, serum urea, creatinine, cystatin C and other tests to detect kidney damage as early as possible and treat it in time. For patients who already have kidney disease, attention should be paid to monitoring changes in blood pressure and active treatment. Emphasis should be placed on lifestyle modification, including weight loss, reduction of sodium intake, reduction of fat intake, quitting smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, and moderate exercise. Poorly controlled blood pressure will hurt the kidneys, and only active control can protect the heart, brain, kidneys and other important organs from damage.
