Impotence is defined as erectile dysfunction of the male reproductive organs. Common causes of erectile dysfunction include vascular factors, endocrine factors, neurological factors, and psychological factors. 1. Vascular factors: most common in patients with coronary heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, is often the direct cause of erectile dysfunction, if the blood vessels of the penis can not stretch and accommodate enough blood, often the penis does not have enough blood perfusion, thus can not be congested to induce penile erection. 2. Endocrine factors: if the testicles have lesions, it may cause androgen levels to drop, which leads to a decline in erectile function. 3. Neurological factors: most common in diabetes with peripheral neuropathy, lumbar trauma, pelvic fracture patients, due to lesions in the nerves innervating the erection, thus unable to realize the nerve conduction induced erection. 4. Psychological factors: patients do not have organic lesions, but only inner anxiety, or lack of sexual knowledge, may also lead to the inability to get an erection. To summarize, patients with erectile dysfunction are advised to actively seek medical advice and follow the doctor’s instructions for examination and treatment.
