  Criteria for Early Intervention Programs for Hearing Impairment 1. Infants and children with hearing impairment receive a family-centered early intervention program by 1 year or 6 months of age.  2. The early intervention program should include audiologists, health professionals and rehabilitation professionals.  3. Hearing aids should be used one month after the hearing diagnosis with parental consent and without contraindications.  4. Children wearing hearing aids should receive continuous audiological monitoring once every 3 months.  5. Maximize the child’s speech-language development through family-selected interactions.  6. Families are involved in expressing their satisfaction in a self-advocacy manner.
