How is granulomatous tympanitis treated?

Chronic granulomatous tympanitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the tympanic membrane characterized by granulomatous damage to the surface of the tympanic membrane, with clinical manifestations of severe ear pain, itchy sensation in the ear, pus flow is common and easy to recur, and if it remains untreated for a long time, it destroys the tympanic membrane to cause chronic otitis media, which affects the hearing, and in severe cases, to deafness. At present, the cause of this disease is not clear, may be related to bacterial and fungal infections, trauma, inflammatory stimuli, allergic reactions and other factors. The disease is divided into 4 types depending on the severity of the lesion, and diffuse granulomatous tympanitis is the most serious type IV. There are many treatment methods for this disease, such as: 1, the use of antibiotic ear drops containing hormones; 2, localized granulomatous cauterization excision, such as electrocautery, laser, chemical cauterization; 3, simple granulomatous surgical curettage. Although the above different methods of treatment of the disease have shown different therapeutic effects, the efficacy of the treatment is not precise, especially for type IV of diffuse granulomatous tympanitis treatment is not effective method. In 2008, British authors Neilson et al. reviewed the treatment of chronic granulomatous tympanitis and found that there is no effective treatment for diffuse granulomatous tympanitis of type IV, which needs to be further explored after reviewing a total of 48 papers. In response to this international problem, after hundreds of cases of treatment experience and experience, I have successfully treated diffuse granulomatous tympanitis for the first time with the original tympanic epithelial avulsion combined with external tympanic membrane repair, which not only cured the disease in one stage without recurrence, but also preserved the tympanic membrane’s function of transmitting sound and restored the hearing. This surgical method has been internationally recognized and has been published in the form of a cover paper in the British JLO Ear, Nose and Throat Clinical Journal, which is at the leading level at home and abroad.
