You can’t give your baby medicine the hard way!

Parents are most anxious about their children being sick, and feeding them medicine has become a headache. Some parents often break open the child’s mouth, pinch the nose to fill the medicine, in fact, this is very dangerous. The human pharynx has two channels: one is the esophagus, the other is the trachea, the trachea above the epiglottis cartilage, in swallowing will cover the entrance to the trachea, food into the esophagus, but in the child crying when filling the medicine, the epiglottis cartilage is too late to cover the entrance to the trachea, so that the medicine flows into the trachea, causing the child to choke violently, if inhaled into the lungs can lead to aspiration pneumonia.   Before using the drug should read the drug instructions in detail, according to the instructions of the drug, the amount of medicine should be applied under the guidance of a doctor, do not halve the amount of medicine according to adults or take the initiative to increase the amount of medicine. Drugs that stimulate the gastrointestinal tract should be taken after meals, deworming drugs should be taken on an empty stomach, and drugs that help digestion should be taken before meals. Nowadays, many pharmaceutical companies have produced fruit-flavored oral doses for the convenience of children, which are very suitable for children and can be used by parents. When feeding medicine to a small baby, the child should be picked up and put into a semi-recumbent position. Use a small spoon to slowly pour the medicine through the corner of the mouth until it is swallowed. For older children, the child should first be encouraged to take the medicine on his or her own, never by blaming or reprimanding. Patiently tell the child that the medicine kills bacteria and viruses and that after taking the medicine, he or she can play with children as before. You can also prepare two small bowls, one with the child’s favorite juice or drink, and the other with the medicine. Give the child the drink first, change to the medicine when the baby is not looking and feed it quickly, then give him/her a spoonful of the drink. Take care that the amount of medicine fed should not be too large and that a fixed routine is not formed when feeding the medicine, so that the child will not find out and refuse to take it again. If necessary, force-feed the medicine, but do it quickly to prevent the child from spitting it out or choking.
