How to check yourself for low back pain

When symptoms of low back pain occur, lumbar muscle strain, lumbar disc herniation or overwork may be considered, which can be combined with the cause and symptoms for initial judgment, and specific need to consult a doctor for a clear diagnosis. 1. Lumbar muscle strain: Lumbar muscle strain is a chronic process with a long history, usually more than three months. Characterized by recurring episodes, it can be relieved after rest, and is prone to relapse after relief. Characterized by no other manifestations than lumbar pain, it is often caused by prolonged labor. 2. Lumbar intervertebral disc herniation: there is often radiating pain in the lower limbs, and the location of the pain is consistent with the corresponding innervation area of the affected nerves; there may be sensory abnormality in the lower limbs, and the superficial sensation in the skin is weakened; the straight-leg-raising test, straight-leg-raising enhancement test, straight-leg-raising test on the healthy side, or the femoral nerve pulling test may be positive. Tendon reflexes are weaker than those on the healthy side, and muscle strength is decreased. MRI or CT of lumbar spine shows herniated intervertebral disc, and the compressed nerve is consistent with the symptoms and signs of the affected nerve. 3. Over-exertion: the pain cycle is short, and the pain has obvious correlation with daily activities, and it can be relieved after resting and can be cured without triggers. When there is no other manifestation of the above two diseases, it is mostly caused by physical exertion. It is recommended to consult a doctor for treatment if the lumbar pain is not relieved. The above description is for preliminary reference only and cannot be used as a basis for self-judgment.
