Dietary considerations for breast cancer

October is “World Breast Cancer Awareness Month”. In China, the number of newly diagnosed breast cancer patients is increasing year by year, and the number of new cases of breast cancer is up to 190,000 every year. Before and after surgery, many breast cancer patients often look for various anti-cancer “prescriptions”, especially the “medicinal food therapy”, such as money turtle, ginseng, scorpion, cat’s claw herb, etc., thinking that they can fight cancer if they eat these things. However, experts point out that everyone’s constitution is different, so you must seek medical advice to identify your constitution before using medicinal food therapy, so as to avoid aggravating your condition by “eating the wrong food”! Don’t believe in anti-cancer prescriptions and eat them indiscriminately to aggravate the disease.
There are various anti-cancer “prescriptions” circulating in the community. No matter how expensive they are, family members of cancer patients try to get them, thinking that they can be cured by taking them. In the mammary department, patients or family members often ask doctors: “Should we eat more money turtles to enhance immunity?” “Should I eat a little ginseng to make up for it?” “Can scorpions fight cancer with poison?” .
In fact, the dietary regimen for breast cancer patients is nothing but three principles.
  1. balanced diet, eating some of everything.
  2. dialectical diet, choosing appropriate food according to the physique.
  3. Eat a disease-specific diet, and eat foods that are good for the disease.
For the so-called anti-cancer prescriptions and recipes, don’t follow the trend to eat them when others say they are good to eat. Chinese medicine and medicinal food therapy are different from person to person, and the most important thing is to identify the body constitution. If not allopathic, but will aggravate the condition.

The people have been regarded as a tonic and anti-cancer product, and its value has skyrocketed. Nowadays, wild money turtles are hard to find, and most of them are farmed.
Even though it is expensive and hard to find, there are still tumor patients who are willing to spend a lot of money. There was once a breast cancer patient in her 30s who had low white blood cells, poor appetite, bloating, diarrhea and other discomforts after the first course of chemotherapy, and the patient was still in good condition before chemotherapy, and should not have had such serious side effects. After detailed questioning, I learned that the patient’s father had spent a lot of money on a dozen turtles and stewed one for his daughter to eat every day. They thought the turtles were anti-cancer, but they didn’t realize that the patient’s constitution was cold and the turtles were nourishing and heat-clearing, so eating them hurt the yang energy, leading to poor spleen and stomach biochemistry, indigestion, and even anemia.
The majority of the turtles are now artificially farmed, and it is not known if the feed is hormonal. Breast cancer itself is related to high levels of estrogen, so it is best not to eat it.
Ginseng – different types have different efficacy, wrong use can help
Ginseng can be divided into two categories according to its properties: warm and cool. The warm ones, such as red ginseng and Korean ginseng, are mainly used in cases of qi deficiency with cold symptoms. The cooler ones, such as American ginseng, are suitable for those with a hot body.
People who have been ill for a long time can consider ginseng as a supplement, but if the patient has symptoms such as dry mouth and nose bleeding after taking it, it is called “deficiency without tonic” in Chinese medicine. Red ginseng is warm in nature and should be used with caution or not if the patient is not able to take the tonic. During radiotherapy, if patients have dry mouth and tongue, they can apply American ginseng to nourish yin and produce fluid, but if they take Korean ginseng at this time, it will add oil to the fire. Therefore, tumor patients taking ginseng should choose it according to their individual constitution.
Scorpion – the use of “poison” is easy to hurt the liver and kidneys
Drinking scorpion soup, eating toad, boiling snake tongue herb …… There are numerous folk methods to fight cancer with poison. However, experts are strongly opposed to the use of these prescriptions and tests on their own.
Chinese medicine from ancient times to the present has always attached importance to “attacking poison with poison”, using poisonous products such as whole scorpion, spotted fungus, toad, snake berry, arsenic, hippophae and crow’s nest to fight against tumors. However, if the tumor patient’s vital energy has been damaged, it is not advisable to “attack” the tumor, especially after surgery and radiotherapy, the patient’s immune function and liver and kidney function have been damaged to a certain extent, so it is more important to “support the vital energy and cultivate the root”.
What makes doctors helpless is that cancer patients often think that the more toxic drugs are good for treatment, so they apply large doses of “toxic substances” in private for a long time, and even use some raw herbs without concoction, such as whole scorpion, toad, snake berry, etc., which often cause the accumulation of toxicity in the body, thus causing serious liver and kidney function damage. Tumor patients should be reminded that they should use medicines under the guidance of regular doctors and should never listen to biased anti-cancer prescriptions to avoid unimaginable consequences.
