What to do for children with sinusitis and bronchitis

Children’s sinusitis and bronchitis belong to two kinds of diseases, the treatment is different, such as bronchitis can be oral cough expectorant drugs, sinusitis need to carry out local nasal spray and nasal rinsing and other treatments. Children’s sinusitis refers to the inflammatory changes in the mucosa of the sinuses, often combined with the presence of rhinitis, clinically can appear for a long time, nasal congestion, runny nose, can be presented as purulent, some may be accompanied by headache. Acute bronchitis refers to the infection of the bronchial mucosa caused by various pathogens, and may present symptoms such as cough, wheezing or fever. They are two different diseases with different treatments. Children with sinusitis need anti-infective treatment with antimicrobial drugs (e.g., amoxicillin) and topical nasal sprays with nasal glucocorticoids (e.g., mometasone furoate) to reduce the inflammatory response, as well as nasal rinses to improve the local microenvironment whenever possible. For children with bronchiolitis, anti-infective treatment with antimicrobial drugs (e.g., cefaclor or azithromycin) is needed based on suspected aetiology, such as bacteria or Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and oral cough and expectorant medications, such as aminoglutethimide oral solution, may be administered. For more severe coughs, nebulization and other treatments may be used with inhaled glucocorticosteroids (e.g., budesonide). All of the above medications should be used under the supervision of a physician, and it is recommended to actively consult a specialist for evaluation and treatment.
