Strictly speaking, Parkinson’s disease is an incurable disease, but that does not mean that aggressive treatment is not sought. On the contrary, active treatment will slow down the progression of Parkinson’s disease, especially the time to disability, and allow patients to maintain a relatively long quality of life. Currently, Western medicine is mainly used to treat Parkinson’s disease with dopamine supplementation or dopamine receptor antagonists, which results in temporary suppression of symptoms and does not prolong the progression of the disease, and the dose of drugs needs to be increased as the disease progresses. However, this therapy is still the main treatment for Parkinson’s disease. Is there any other way to delay the use of supplemental dopamine or to delay the increase of dopamine dose? Acupuncture treatment can be achieved. Currently, we use coarse acupuncture, abdominal acupuncture, body acupuncture, and scalp acupuncture to treat Parkinson’s disease with evidence-based treatment, which is effective, and most patients can delay the increase in drug dose, thus greatly reducing the side effects of the drug. Some patients could have significant symptom relief during treatment, and the drug dose could be reduced in some patients. The results showed that patients using this therapy can significantly delay the increase of drug dose, and at the same time can change the patient’s symptoms of tonicity and tremor. The use of acupuncture to treat Parkinson’s disease is a good way to delay the progression of the disease, reduce the dose of drugs, and improve the quality of life of patients.
