How soon can you walk after meniscus surgery

For meniscal injuries, arthroscopic surgery is usually required, but when should I walk off the floor after arthroscopic surgery? It should depend on the injury site, the degree of injury and the type of surgery. I. For very severe meniscal tears Meniscal fragmentation, complex tears of the meniscus. The meniscus cannot be preserved and a total meniscectomy or subtotal meniscectomy is performed. In this case, you can generally walk on the ground six hours after the surgery, and you can walk with full weight, which basically does not affect your daily life. However, since this is an arthroscopic surgery, there will be a period of swelling. As for the resumption of normal exercise, it usually takes about one month to three months after surgery. For elderly people, the recovery time is longer, sometimes even six months to a year. Second, the most common type of meniscectomy is partial meniscectomy. In this case, you should get off the ground the day after surgery and not walk too much. Generally, you can engage in a small amount of exercise about one month after surgery, but if the knee joint is swollen, it is recommended to delay the exercise as much as possible. The amount of activity depends on the pain, swelling and the meniscoplasty. In the case of meniscectomy, if a lot of meniscus has been removed and the remaining meniscus is of poorer texture than normal, strenuous exercise in the future is not recommended in this case and it is better to walk or swim. In this case, the recovery is slower than that of a simple meniscectomy or a meniscus formation, and it is also possible to walk on the ground the day after surgery, but it is recommended that you do not walk with weight. Wear a knee brace for at least a month and a half to avoid re-injury to the sutured meniscus.
