How long does it take for a brain attack to recur?

The timing of a second recurrence of cerebral infarction is different for everyone and no specific time can be given. Some patients may have a recurrence within a few months, some patients may have a recurrence within a year, and some patients may not have a recurrence for several years. The secondary recurrence of cerebral infarction requires certain predisposing factors, such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, smoking, alcoholism, etc., which can cause gradual aggravation of atherosclerosis, and further narrowing of cerebral arteries can cause secondary recurrence of cerebral infarction. In addition, the poor lifestyle of patients with cerebral infarction, such as high salt and high fat diet, staying up late, excessive fatigue and mental stress, can also cause the second recurrence of cerebral infarction. Therefore, the recurrence of cerebral infarction is mainly related to the presence or absence of precipitating factors in patients’ lives, and the exact time cannot be generalized. Therefore, in order to reduce the possibility of secondary recurrence, patients with cerebral infarction need to do a good job of secondary prevention of cerebrovascular disease, i.e., actively control the risk factors of cerebrovascular disease, lower blood pressure, reduce fat and sugar, change poor living habits and increase exercise appropriately.
