Can myopia lead to presbyopia?

Nearsightedness can lead to presbyopia. Everyone gets presbyopia, but not everyone gets nearsightedness. Presbyopia is caused by the progressive hardening of the lens, weakening of the elasticity, and reduction in the function of the ciliary muscle as a result of aging, which causes a decrease in the eye’s ability to adjust, making it difficult to read and work at close range. This physiological weakening of accommodation due to age is called presbyopia and is medically known as presbyopia. Symptoms of presbyopia generally include difficulty seeing close, the need for stronger illumination for reading, the inability to see close for long periods of time, eye swelling, tearing, headaches, and other symptoms of visual fatigue. The occurrence of presbyopia is related to age, refractive error, eye use, physical fitness, geographic location, and medications.
