What tests are needed for patients with pituitary tumors?

Visual field examination to understand the relationship between the tumor and the optic nerve imaging: the most important is MRI of the saddle area, which needs to be enhanced to clarify the location and growth pattern of the tumor and provide a basis for disease differentiation and surgery. For some patients with microadenoma, dynamic MRI scan can also be chosen to improve the detection rate, and the bone window image of CT can provide some reference value for surgery. It includes a complete set of pituitary hormone measurements as well as target gland functions, i.e. thyroid, adrenal and gonadal functions. Commonly used tests include small and large dose dexamethasone suppression test, 24-hour urinary free cortisol, glucose growth hormone suppression test, etc. Routine pre-surgical laboratory tests.
