What to do if you can’t get a fishbone out of your throat

A fishbone stuck in the throat and not removed may cut through the esophagus, leading to esophageal damage, even rupture of large blood vessels and bleeding, mediastinal infection, and in severe cases, life-threatening injuries. If you can feel the obvious fishbone in your throat, you need to go to the hospital in time for treatment. Do not believe in online remedies, such as chewing steamed bread and swallowing and drinking a lot of vinegar, these are not based on science, and if the fishbone is large, these methods are likely to lead to esophageal damage, or even lead to rupture of the blood vessels and bleeding; and even cause mediastinal infections and endanger the life of the person. If a fishbone stuck in the throat and obvious discomfort, it is recommended to consult a hospital to find a fishbone under the light source irradiation and remove it; or find a fishbone under the laryngoscope and remove it with a laryngeal foreign body forceps.
