Bulimia nervosa is a kind of eating disorder mostly seen in adolescents and young women, with three characteristics. 1. Triggering factors: interpersonal tension, quarrels and anger, stressful study or work, unsatisfactory exams, work reports criticized by leaders, and many other frustrations and upsets can be triggering factors. 2. Irresistible eating behavior, usually eating a large amount of food within 2 hours, with weekly episodes lasting for more than 3 months. After eating, they regret and feel remorseful, and take induced diarrhea to stop gaining weight. One is usually very conscious of eating and maintaining a slim body, so the over-eating behavior is not a physical need, but a psychological one. Along with the process of binge eating food, the most initial strong tension of negative emotions such as anger and aggression will be relieved, so much so that overeating becomes its behavior pattern to deal with negative emotions. 3. Character traits: lack of self-confidence, emotional, overly concerned about others’ negative evaluation of them, internal insecurity while having difficulty expressing it, and excessive repression.
