What is the purpose of otitis media surgery?

The purpose of surgery for chronic otitis media is: 1. control of pus flow and pain. 2. 2. Improvement of hearing. 3. Repair of the eardrum to facilitate daily activities such as swimming or hair washing. 4. Removal of the lesion. Simple otitis media surgery needs to be performed in dry ear (no pus flow) for more than 3 months (at least 1 month is required), but it is not absolute, for example, if the mucous membrane of the middle ear is formed by chemosis and the cells with secretory function increase to secrete mucus regularly, and then there is an allergic reaction, it is difficult to completely dry the middle ear, and then it needs to be operated in time! For osteoid otitis media, if the drainage is clear, local medication should be used, but attention should be paid to regular review. For osteochondritis with poor drainage or suspected complications and cholesteatoma otitis media, modified mastoid radical surgery or mastoid radical surgery should be performed early to completely remove the lesion and prevent complications.
