Do you need to fast to check blood uric acid for gout?

Gout blood uric acid test requires fasting, it is generally recommended to fast for 8 hours or more before the blood is drawn.
The blood uric acid test routinely collects venous blood specimens in the early morning on an empty stomach, and it is generally required to stop eating after 10:00 p.m. the night before the blood is drawn, so as to avoid the impact on the test results of eating high-purine foods and other foods the night before.
The blood uric acid value is 150~416µmol/L for adult men and 89~357µmol/L for women, and the diagnosis of hyperuricemia is made if the fasting blood uric acid level is >420µmol/L on two occasions not on the same day under daily diet. If there are large fluctuations in blood uric acid test values, retesting is recommended.
Gout patients are advised to go to regular hospitals for blood uric acid test, and can also go to the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology for detailed consultation.
