Epilepsy is a clinical syndrome caused by highly synchronized abnormal discharges of neurons in the brain. Seizure symptoms are recurrent and transient in nature, and most seizures can be terminated spontaneously. When there are seizure patients around, we need to do the following: 1. Do not press or restrain the patient’s body to try to terminate his or her seizure when the patient is convulsing. At this time, we should let the patient take the side position, and remove the tables and chairs, keys, glasses and other hard objects around the patient to prevent impact injuries to the patient’s limbs, and can be padded in the patient’s head to play a protective role. 2. Do not put any objects in the patient’s mouth, such as chopsticks, wooden sticks, towels, etc. These objects may increase the risk of suffocation, just help the patient to take a lateral position to help his or her mouth and nose secretions out. 3.Record the time of the patient’s seizure and the form of the seizure to help the physician’s diagnosis after admission. 4.After the patient’s seizure is over, gently assume a good posture and wait for his or her consciousness to return. Be careful not to give the patient any food or water until he/she is conscious to prevent accidental aspiration. It should be noted that if a patient has a seizure for more than 5-10 minutes and the seizure does not end, it may be a persistent status epilepticus and the patient needs to be sent to the hospital for further examination and treatment. In summary, when a patient has a seizure, we should help him/her to take a lateral position, remove the surrounding objects, record the seizure scenario and time, do not restrain the limbs, do not stimulate the patient, and wait for the seizure to end. If the seizure does not end in more than 5-10 minutes, send the patient to the doctor in time.
