When a baby is sick, it is sometimes accompanied by pain in a certain part of the body. However, because babies are too young to express themselves verbally or with unclear expressions, it is difficult for mothers to know the exact area of pain. If you know the characteristics of the pain in different parts of the baby, it will be easier to locate it and you will be able to describe it to the doctor accurately when you go to the doctor.
1.Tummy pain
Indigestion.
Indigestion can occur when a baby eats too much or eats too much fat. Abdominal pain is mainly manifested as bloating pain, stomach like a small drum, pat a “thump” ring, the degree of pain is relatively light, the baby will be more “Lai”, do not like to laugh, do not like to play.
Cold abdomen.
If your baby eats too much cold food or sleeps without covering the little tummy, he or she will also have stomach pain. If the pain is a little more severe, the baby will cry. The mother can also hear the baby’s stomach “gurgling” and the stool is very thin. The abdominal pain is usually relieved after the bowel movement and the tummy pain is no longer present.
Colic.
Most often occurs in babies under 6 months of age and can recur. The pain is so intense that the baby cries especially hard and even has cold sweats and a pale face. Colic mostly occurs after breastfeeding. Massage of the abdomen and prone position can relieve the pain.
Intestinal infection.
When babies are infected by bacteria and viruses, and enteritis and dysentery occur, they will have abdominal pain, accompanied by diarrhea, vomiting and fever. This abdominal pain is often paroxysmal, so the baby’s crying is also a burst. Abdominal pain can be temporarily relieved after defecation, but it will be painful again after a while.
Intussusception.
This is a common acute abdominal condition in babies, where abdominal pain is very severe due to an obstruction caused by a segment of the intestine being trapped in the lumen of the intestine to which it is attached. This abdominal pain is also paroxysmal, hurting at intervals, with the baby crying for a while and stopping for a while. The most obvious feature is that the abdominal pain becomes more and more severe, the interval becomes shorter and shorter, and the baby’s mental state becomes worse and worse, often accompanied by chocolate sauce-like bloody stools.
Common pain 2: Ear pain
Otitis media.
Most likely to occur after a cold, the baby will have ear pain and, in addition to crying, exhibit scratching the ear with the hand or rubbing one ear on the pillow. The mother can also notice secretions coming out of the baby’s ears and the baby is not as responsive to sounds as before.
Common pain 3: Mouth pain
Mouth ulcers.
Infected by certain viruses, such as herpes simplex virus and coxsackie virus, babies can develop mouth ulcers. The well-known hand, foot and mouth disease is caused by coxsackie virus infection, the baby’s oral mucosa will appear multiple ulcers. In addition, B vitamin deficiency, oral mucous membrane burns or bites and drug allergies can also cause oral ulcers. The baby will feel pain in the mouth, especially when eating. Therefore, it manifests as the baby refusing to eat. The mother can observe that the baby has the desire to eat, but then stops immediately and cries out once he or she eats.
Stomatitis.
This is commonly known as “rotten mouth” and is caused by a lack of B vitamins, vitamin C, and zinc trace elements in the baby’s body. The mother can see that the corners of the baby’s mouth are red, with blisters and white erosion. This pain in the corner of the mouth is especially noticeable when the baby opens his mouth to talk and eat. Sometimes the vesicles have crusted over and crack when the baby opens his mouth, causing bleeding and severe pain, and the baby suddenly cries out. Therefore, in order to avoid pain, babies refuse to open their mouths and do not like to talk or eat.
