Notes on Hospital Visits

Many people think there is nothing to see a doctor, but in fact, many people do not know how to see a doctor. So, what exactly should I pay attention to before and during a visit to the doctor? How to communicate with the doctor when seeing a doctor? First, the preparation before seeing the doctor: please bring your past medical records, laboratory and examination data, as well as your usual list of drugs (or medications) in taking, in the morning of the doctor’s visit it is best not to drink water, do not eat breakfast to come to the hospital. Second, according to the condition of the right specialist: With the development of medical technology, the general large general hospital subspecialty is very fine, in addition to the familiar surgery, internal medicine (according to the distinction between surgical and non-surgical treatment), emergency department, but also according to the system and divided into: cardiovascular, endocrinology, neurology (neurology, internal and external, section), stomatology, five senses (ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology), thoracic surgery, gastroenterology, anorectology, orthopedics, pain, rehabilitation. Orthopedics, pain, rehabilitation, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics and so on. The larger and better the hospital, the more detailed the subspecialty, so people should go to the appropriate department according to the part where their disease is located for the first time, or ask the guide after arriving at the hospital, so as not to blindly seek medical treatment. 3. Know the general procedure of visiting a doctor: outpatient registration → visit the relevant department → necessary examination and laboratory test → obtain the examination result (report) in the department where you have done the auxiliary examination → go to the doctor who originally issued the examination request form again to clarify the diagnosis → determine the treatment measures → pay the fee and take the medicine or treatment. If you need to be hospitalized, you can go through the hospitalization procedure or hospital reservation procedure according to your condition and the patient’s request after the relevant doctor’s visit. 4. Please communicate effectively with the doctor: The visit is done through communication between the doctor and the patient, often with the patient presenting his or her medical history first, and children who cannot present and those with communication difficulties having someone close to them present on their behalf. The medical history is presented to the doctor in the order of occurrence of the disease, the process of development, the characteristics, the diagnosis and treatment, and the relationship with the current disease ……, so as not to conceal. Sometimes, it is necessary to complete the description of the medical history with the guidance of the doctor. Let the doctor get the most amount of clinical information possible to facilitate the diagnosis of your condition. V. Examination according to the doctor’s suggestion: During the outpatient consultation, after completing the medical history, the doctor will do a physical examination together with the medical history to make a preliminary judgment on the disease, and if necessary, the corresponding auxiliary examinations are required. Ancillary tests include blood, urine and stool tests, ultrasound, X-ray, CT, MRI, endoscopy and various imaging tests. There are different options for different diseases, but ancillary tests are not a substitute for a doctor’s visit. When the disease is complicated and auxiliary examinations are needed to help identify and clarify the diagnosis, please follow the doctor’s medical advice to conduct the necessary examinations and do not blindly request CT, ultrasound, photos, laboratory tests and other examinations. Establishing mutual trust between doctors and patients: Only when doctors and patients establish a relationship of equality, trust and harmony with each other, doctors and patients will overcome the disease together. If you don’t trust the doctor, don’t see him, so as not to delay the consultation time. That’s why equality, trust and understanding are very important. On the basis of trust, good treatment results will be obtained by carefully carrying out medical advice. We hope that all patients will pay attention to the above issues and manage their healthy life better!
