How to treat a swelling in the superior sternal fossa

If a swelling appears in the suprasternal fossa, the first step is to improve the ultrasound examination to determine the nature of the swelling, and if necessary, to improve the MRI of the swelling. If surgery is indicated, surgical treatment is needed to remove the swelling completely, and then pathological examination is performed, which is the gold standard for differential diagnosis. If the mass is caused by a purulent bacterial infection, local pus formation should be considered, which requires incision and drainage, as well as active anti-infective treatment with sensitive antibiotics.
