Routine treatment of gastritis generally does not require the application of antibiotics. Gastritis requiring antibiotics is seen in two main conditions: first, gastritis with Helicobacter pylori infection, which is more common in clinical practice and requires quadruple bactericidal therapy with the application of a proton pump inhibitor, bismuth, and two antibiotics. The choice of antibiotics includes amoxicillin, levofloxacin, clarithromycin, metronidazole, furazolidone, and tetracycline. Second, acute infectious gastritis is relatively rare in clinical practice, so antibiotics are chosen only when gastritis requires standardized bactericidal therapy.
