How long does it take for secondary tuberculosis to heal?

Secondary tuberculosis requires at least 6 months of treatment to heal. The etiology of secondary TB includes endogenous relapse and exogenous reinfection. Patients mostly present with fever, cough and sputum, which may be accompanied by hemoptysis, chest pain, night sweats, fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss, and menstrual disorders. If diagnosed early and treated in a timely and standardized manner, the prognosis is usually good, with a treatment period of at least 6 months, after which patients can judge whether to discontinue the drug based on relevant examination results. If the treatment process is not standardized and may lead to drug-resistant TB, the duration of treatment can be significantly longer, even up to 1-2 years, or longer. Patients with secondary tuberculosis are advised to choose a diet high in calories, protein and vitamins, pay attention to calcium and iron supplements, avoid spicy foods, avoid smoking and alcohol, pay attention to rest, maintain a relaxed and happy mood, and exercise appropriately.
