At the beginning of each new school year, there are always news reports of children dying suddenly during military training, and people can’t help but worry about whether their children will be suddenly affected. The most common cause of sudden death in adolescents is heart disease, and cardiovascular disease caused by Kawasaki disease plays an important role in sudden death in adolescents. Kawasaki disease, also known as cutaneous mucosal lymph node syndrome, often develops under the age of 5 years, manifesting as a sudden onset of fever, which often fails to subside with antibiotic treatment. During the course of fever, the baby’s conjunctiva is often seen to be bilaterally congested, the lips of the mouth are flushed followed by chapping and bleeding, some babies can be seen to have a strawberry-like tongue, the palms of the hands and soles of the feet appear flushed and hard edema early, and about 10 days later large flakes of peeling skin may appear at the ends of the fingers and toes, and the trunk, especially There are also swollen lymph nodes in the neck, mostly unilateral, with slight pressure pain. The main complication of the acute phase of Kawasaki disease is coronary artery dilation, and coronary artery aneurysm can be formed when the lesion is severe. After effective treatment with aspirin and gammaglobulin during the acute phase, most children’s coronary arteries can be restored to normal, but 3-5% of children still have coronary artery dilation and stenosis, which can lead to myocardial infarction and sudden death at a young age. Therefore, children with Kawasaki disease need to continue graded treatment according to the coronary lesions after the acute stage, aspirin treatment for mild coronary lesions, and warfarin anticoagulation treatment for severe lesions, some children need to limit sports; at the same time, regular follow-up visits to the Department of Pediatric Cardiovascular Medicine, and review cardiac ultrasound, electrocardiogram, and, if necessary, improve coronary CT, coronary angiography, in order to facilitate the adjustment of treatment according to the condition. This will help to adjust the treatment plan according to the condition and maximize the protection of the baby’s healthy growth.
