How soon can I sit up with a fractured lumbar spine

After a fracture occurs in the lumbar spine, the patient can usually sit up for about two months. When a compression fracture occurs in the lumbar spine, the patient usually needs bed rest or surgery first and then bed rest after surgery. In either case, the patient should remain in bed rest for at least two months, and after two months the fracture end is relatively stable and the patient can sit up under the protection of a lumbar brace and can move out of bed appropriately. The patient should strictly limit the time of sitting rest or standing and walking, and still rest in bed until three months before removing the lumbar brace and resuming normal sitting work and weight-bearing walking. If the patient maintains a sitting position or weight-bearing walking in advance, the height of the lumbar vertebral body will drop further and the patient will have clinical symptoms such as severe lumbar pain and limited lumbar movement.
